Make A DVD F.A.Q.

Will my originals be returned in the same condition?
Yes. Our technicians take great care in handling all your precise memories. Everything is returned to you in the same condition as when you gave it to us.

How long is the service time for a digital transfer order?
Photo scans and video transfer can be done on site and are usually completed the same day. Film transfer and slide scans are done at our office studio and usually are completed in 7 – 10 days.

Do you transfer negatives?
No.

Can you mix photos, slides, film and video?
Yes. Once your material is digitized you can work with a Makeadvd producer to organize and create a custom DVD production.

Can I save money by sending my keepsakes to someone I found on the internet?
You will find that in most cases Makeadvd has very competitive pricing and more often is lower. Plus, your materials are never shipped, thus providing a risk free solution.

What types of video formats can be transferred?
VHS, Beta, VHS-C, 8mm, HI-8mm, digital 8mm and mini dv.

How many video tapes fit on each DVD?
For the best quality transfer, up to two hours of video is transferred onto each DVD. If some of the video cassettes have less than two hours of recorded footage, multiple video tapes can be combined onto on a DVD. There is a $5.00 charge for this process.

What if I have 4, 6 or 8 hours video tape?
For the best quality transfer we put up to two hours on a DVD. If you have a 4 hour video, it would require 2 DVDs and 6 hour 3 DVDs and so on. Each two hours would a separate DVD and separate charge.

How do I know how many feet are on a reel of film?
Each reel of film can be measured to determine the footage. See table below:

3” (50 feet)
4” (100 feet)
5” (200 feet)
6” (300 feet)
7” (400 feet)
